We bought our house last fall and it has a sprinkler system. During the closing we ask the previous owner about the system, and was warned if you do not turn it ON right you will flood the basement. In May we called the phone # on the control box and it was NatureScape, I told them about the recent purchase of the house and the former owner warnings and that we didn't want a flooded basement (it's a finished basement) they assured me they knew how to turn it on. When the employee came, I had my 74 year old Mom take him downstairs (I couldn't, because I'm a Quad.) to show him where the water pump and lines were. She watched him turn 2 red PVC valves, then they came back up. She then showed him the control box in the garage, then left him and came back inside the house. We could see him from the windows walking around the whole yard after about 10 minutes (and not seeing any sprinklers going) We went out and asked how it was going, his reply "fine, I'm looking for the sprinkler heads, but the water pressure is low". We went back in to eat lunch, while I was eating I noticed that I could hear my water pump kicking on and off a lot (my dinning room is right next to the basement stairs) but when I looked outside I still didn't see any sprinklers going, so I had my Mom go downstairs to check the pump. As soon as she got to the basement and turned the corner she saw water all over the laminate floor in the hallway, she immediately turned around and came upstairs, went outside to tell the man (who she found in the middle of the front yard looking down still for sprinkler heads). He came in and went downstairs, a couple minutes later he came up grumbling something to himself, went to his van, came back in with a small metal toolbox and went back downstairs. No more the 5 minutes later he came back up and told me a valve went bad...but he didn't show me a valve, he showed me 2 pieces of copper pipe soldered together with a elbow coupling to make a L shape about 3 inches long in both directions and no more then 1/2 inch in diameter (he held it about arms length away from me) he pointed to the end of one side of the pipe and said "this is where it was leaking", then took it and his toolbox back outside, never offering it to me, he went back out looking for the sprinkler heads, which were now popping up. Mom asked him what he was going to do about the water in the basement, he said "call the previous owner and have them clean it up". My sister had to take a 1/2 off work to come home and help deal with the mess, she met the owner at the house and we told him everything that happened, plus showed him everything. We had to call a restoration company out to suck out all the water, and treat the floors for mold/mildew and they put up 6 special fans and 2 dehumidifiers to dry things up (they came out daily to read the moisture level) it took 3 days of those fans and dehumidifies running 24 hours daily to dry everything. I even had a professional plumber come out and check the pipes, he wrote a report and took pictures, saying there is no new valves, and when a valve does go bad it drips, it would not flood a basement in 20 minutes. Also all the sprinkler lines are PVC pipes. The owner will not return any of my calls. People make mistakes, I know that, but be honest and own up to it, then do the right thing. Don't take advantage of people, their age/gender or disability, if I had seen the water pump and the pipes I would have known immediately, when I was shown the copper the employee was lying. I would give them zero stars but that is not a option. My question for the BBB is why do they give Naturescape an A+ rating when they have only 15% positive reviews, but 82% negative. In school that's a F.
